Garbage truck (electric)

A common example of the battery electric trucks is the Garbage Truck. Since it makes many stops in carrying garbage it is more practical to use an electric vehicle than a combustion truck, which would be idling much of the time; it also reduces noise in residential areas.
Garbage trucks are excellent candidates for electric drive. Most of their time is spent stopping, starting or idling. These activities are where internal combustion engines are their least efficient. In preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games, 3,000 of the internal combustion engine garbage trucks in Beijing were replaced with lithium ion polymer battery pack electric drive trucks. The batteries were procured for about $3,300 each. In France, some all-electric garbage trucks produced by Power Vehicle Innovation have been operating since 2011 in the city of Courbevoie, the first local authorities in France to acquired them.

In 2014, North America became home to its own electric garbage truck. Called the ERV (electric refuse vehicle) it hit the road in Chicago in September of 2014. It was the first of an up to $13.4 million purchase order for up to 20 trucks. The PO was won in a competitive bid by Motiv Power Systems in 2012. The majority of the money used to purchase the first truck came from a DoE grant secured by then-Senator Barack Obama. The City of Chicago runs the Motiv ERV on different residential refuse and recycling routes of up to 60 miles, saving 2,688 gallons a year.Chicago specified that this ERV must meet the demanding requirements placed on all of its garbage trucks. This included 60 mile range, a payload capacity of nine tons and 1000 pounds per cubic yard of compaction. These specifications make the ERV capable of use anywhere in Chicago. To supply enough electricity to move the truck and power the hydraulics all day, the ERV is equipped with 200 kilowatt-hours of energy, in ten battery packs. Full charge time is 8 hours using the Motiv Universal Fast Charger

Electric Truck : Newton

Before going the Newton first let me tell you about Electric Trucks.
An electric truck is a truck powered by electricity , yeah that's all .Its working is somewhat similar to electric cars . There are many types of Electic Trucks means the types depends upon its application like
General Trucks
Pickup trucks
Semi-trailer and tractor trucks
Milk float
Garbage truck
Off-Road & Mining truck
I will provide you information about these some other day,.............So lets start with NEWTON

NEWTON:

Launched in 2006, the Newton electric truck is an all electric commercial vehicle from Smith Electric Vehicles. The Newton comes in three GVW configurations: 7,500 pounds (3,400 kg), 10,000 pounds (4,500 kg) and 12,000 pounds (5,400 kg). Each is available in short, medium or long wheelbase.

The truck was launched with a 120 kilowatt electric induction motor from Enova Systems, driven by Lithium-Ion Iron Phosphate batteries supplied by Valence Technology. In 2012 Smith re-released the Newton with new driveline and battery systems that were developed inhouse. Smith offers the battery pack in either 80kWh or 120kWh configurations
Newton was named Green Commercial of the Year in the electric vehicle section of Fleet Transport magazine’s Irish Truck of the Year Awards 2010, sponsored by Castrol.
As of October 2012, the Newton is sold worldwide and available with three different payload capacities from 6,100 to 16,200 lb (2,800 to 7,300 kg). The lithium-ion battery pack is available in varying sizes that deliver a range from 55 to 110 mi (89 to 177 km) and a top speed of 50 mph (80 km/h).

Mahindra GenZe

Mahindra GenZe, the American electric two wheeler making subsidiary of the Indian conglomerate, has announced that it will be participating in the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 (CES) which is set to open its doors to the media on January 5 in Las Vegas. The GenZe has two electric two wheelers in its current lineup – the GenZe 2.0 scooter and the E-Bike – both of which are targeted at urban dwelling youngsters. The company’s two wheelers value excellent practicality and functionality over form. There could be a new product or technology showcase at the CES 2015.

The GenZe 2.0 is a minimalistic zero emission two wheeler which employs an exposed lightweight aluminium exoskeleton single-piece chassis which constitutes most of the bodywork. The Back Bay carrying bin sits in place of a pillion seat and is voluminous enough to accommodate backpacks, groceries, etc.
The scooter is motivated by a hub-mounted brush-less permanent magnet motor which generates a healthy torque of 130 Nm, strong enough to carry 125 kg of weight (rider and payload). Power to the motor comes from a 1.6 kWh Li-Ion battery pack which can be removed from the vehicle easily if the owner wishes to charge it indoors.
A full charge can be achieved in 3.5 hours through a 110 V 5 amps socket and a maximum range is claimed to be 30 miles (48.3 km). The scooter can reach speeds of up to 30 miles (48.3 kph) and it can hit the limit in under 8 seconds. Of course, the runabout benefits from regenerative braking and front disc brake.
The salient feature is the 7-inch Cruise-Connect touchscreen display which provides speed, range, battery status and charge state, energy consumption, and Co2 reduction. It also has a copy of owners manual and can be secured with a password. The scooter also comes with wireless charging facility for laptops, mobile phones and tablets.

Electric Aircrafts

First let me tell you What is Electric Aircraft ?
An aircraft that runs on electric motor rather than IC engine (internal combustion ) . The power source (elecrticity) comes from fuel cells, solar cells, ulrtacapacitors, power beaming or batteries. Battery is a common word, but i think only few people knows about other power sources. I will explain them some other day.Lets get back on our topic,
Currently flying aircrafts are mostly eperimental demonstrators, including manned and unmanned aerial vehicle. Electrically powered model aircraft have been flown since the 1970s, with one report in 1957. The first man carrying electrically powered flights were made in1973. In 2015,a manned solar powered plane Solar Impulse begin a planned 5-month circumnavigation of the Earth.

Let get back back in the past .........................hmmm...in 1883, Gaston Tissandier was he first to use electric motor in the airship propulsion. The following year Charles Renard and Arthur Krebs flew La france with more powerful motor.
In 1964, William C Brown demonstrates on CBS News with Walter Cronkite a model helocopter that receives all the power needed for flight from a microwave beam.
Its a very long topic to discuss, So today i will give info. about few Electric Aircrafts:

Electric BL1E Electra:

The French BL1E Electra was the first registered electric aircraft in the world . It took its first flight in 23 Dec 2007. It was flew by Elecravia team with the APAME Association . It is a open-cockpit airplane.
The aircraft was flew foe 48 min. covering 50 km.

Specificaton:

The BL1E "Electra" is powered by an 18-kW(24 hp) disk-brushed electric engine driven  by a 47 kg (104 lb) KOKAM Lithium-Polymer battery power pack. It was first electric realization of the french company ELectravia.

Hugues Duval MC15E Cri-Cri:

On September 5 2010, pilot Hugues Duval sets a world record for electric aircraft with his twin engine MC15E CriCri. The aircraft has been equiped with Electravia engines, controllers, batteries and propellers.
Durin the Pontoise Air show, a top speed of 262km/hr was recorded by aero club de France organisers

Tesla Model E (2016)

As auto fans, we speculate about anything and it for this reason that each of us has been talking about the 2016 Tesla Model E despite that there are two years before its release. To date, only little information has been supplied about model E but based on speculations it is likely to be released soon after model X is released. This to say that the earliest we can expect it is 2017. Length-wise, Model E is expected to reduce by at least 20% when compared to model X. Its power is expected to come from a 48 kWh battery pack capable of powering it for not less than 180 miles.

2016 Tesla Model E Engine

We know less about the preferred engine for the aforementioned Model E. However, what we can’t deny is that it will be a great car with sufficient power supply. Basing argument on the kind of batteries featured in Model S, we expect Model E to feature a less powerful battery. This is expected to be a 48 kWh lithium battery which according to most sources will be able to drive the car for not less than 200 miles. Some rumors claim that this will not be the only battery hence there is likelihood that there will be a more powerful alternative battery.

2016 Tesla Model E Performance

Power efficient is one of the key areas where Tesla is expected to work on. Most people expect that its performance level will be better than it is with model S. For instance, on a single charge, you should expect the car to drive for at least 300 kilometres before you charge it again. This means that it will have one of the most powerful engines when compared to its competitors.

2016 Tesla Model E Release and Price

Based on some recent reports, 2016 Tesla Model E is likely to debut in one of the most known Auto Shows in 2015. That said the probability of the car be designed in 2016 and the sales starting in 2017 is very high. Official details for the price are not yet clarified but there is likelihood that it will go for 35,000 dollars

New EV Launched

Arcimoto is now producing an EV that most everyone can afford and dispels the myth that electric vehicles are expensive. The new EV was “officially” launched at
a “Plug-in Party” October, 20, 2015 at Arcimoto’s new showroom located at 544 Blair Blvd. in Eugene, Oregon.
It has been a long wait for the 8th incarnation of Arcimoto’s EV to be ready for purchase, but it is finally here. The 2-seat 3-wheel EV gets an estimated 230 MPGe and retails for $11,900 USD, without Federal or State incentives—which is only a fraction of the cost of a new EV from Nissan, BMW or Tesla etc.
What makes the Arcimoto SRK EV different besides the 3-wheel reverse trike architecture and that it is only a 1/4 of the weight and 1/2 the width of most vehicles on the road today—is that huge 230 MPGe figure! That number along with the low cost means that the majority of drivers should be able to save enough on annual fuel costs alone to pay for the new purchase cost of the SRK within approximately five years! I would like to see anyone try that trick with any fossil
fuel burning car or truck!

Electric Bicycle

An electric bicycle, also known as an e-bike or booster bike, is a bicycle with an integrated electric motor which can be used for propulsion. There are a great variety of e-bikes available worldwide, from e-bikes that only have a small motor to assist the rider's pedal-power  to somewhat more powerful e-bikes which tend closer to moped-style functionality: all, however, retain the ability to bepealled by the rider and are therefore not electric motorcycle. E-bikes use rechargeable batteries and the lighter varieties can travel up to 25 to 32 km/h (16 to 20 mph), depending on the laws of the country in which they are sold, while the more high-powered varieties can often do in excess of 45 km/h (28 mph). In some markets, such as Germany, they are gaining in popularity and taking some market share away from conventional bicycles, while in others, such as China, they are replacing fossil fuel-powered mopeds and small motorcycles.

Technical

Motors and drivetrains

The two most common types of hub motors used in electric bicycles are brushed and brushless. There are many possible types of electric motorized bicycles with several technologies available, varying in cost and complexity; direct-drive and geared motor units are both used. An electric power-assist system may be added to almost any pedal cycle using chain drive, belt drive, hub motors or friction drive. BLDChub motors are a common modern design with the motor built into the wheel hub itself and the stator fixed solidly to the axle and the magnets attached to and rotating with the wheel. The bicycle wheel hub is the motor. The power levels of motors used are influenced by available legal categories and are often, but not always limited to under 750 watts.

Batteries

E-bikes use rechargeable batteries, electric motors and some form of control. Battery systems in use include sealed lead-acid (SLA), nickel-cadmium (NiCad), nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) or lithium-ion polymers (Li-ion). Batteries vary according to the voltage, total charge capacity (amp hours), weight, the number of charging cycles before performance degrades, and ability to handle over-voltage charging conditions. The energy costs of operating e-bikes are small, but there can be considerable battery replacement costs. The lifespan of a battery pack varies depends on the type of usage. Shallow discharge/recharge cycles will help extend the overall battery life.

Design variations

Not all e-bikes take the form of conventional push-bikes with an incorporated motor, such as the cytronex bicycles which use a small battery disguised as a water botted Some are designed to take the appearance of low capacity motorcycles, but smaller in size and consisting of an electric motor rather than a petrol engine. For example, the Sakura e-bike incorporates a 200 W motor found on standard e-bikes, but also includes plastic cladding, front and rear lights, and a speedometer. It is styled as a modern moped, and is often mistaken for one.

An Electric Pusher Trailer is an e-bike design which incorporates a motor and battery into a trailer that pushes any bicycle. One such trailer is the two-wheeled Ridekick.

Other, rarer designs include that of a 'chopper' styled e-bike, which are designed as more of a 'fun' or 'novelty' e-bike than as a purposeful mobility aid or mode of transport

Electric cargo bikes allow the rider to carry large, heavy items which would be difficult to transport without electric power supplementing the human power input.
Various designs (including those mentioned above) are designed to fit inside most area laws, and the ones that contain pedals can be used on roads in the United Kingdom, among other countries.
Folding e-bikes are also available.
Electric self-balancing unicycles do not conform to e-bike legislation in most countries and therefore cannot be used on the road, but can be utilized in the sidewalk. They are the cheapest electric cycles and used by the last mile commuters.
